Inscribed Collectibles

What is it? Inscribed Collectibles is a novel utility digital collectible ERC721A token. It "wraps" any other ERC721 token so that it can receive supplemental data from Scribe and change the token's metadata. As it's meant to mirror another token on the Ethereum network, it will also stay with it as it moves.

Why would I want to Inscribe one of my other Collectibles? Normally, all the data that Scribe attaches to your digital collectible is only viewable in Scribe, as we cannot affect the metadata of other smart contracts' tokens. (That would suck!). So having an Inscribed version of your favorite collectible means you have a blockchain-based record of awesome stuff that happened.

What kind of stuff can be Inscribed? You can inscribe Scribe XP, Levels, Autographs, special events, awards received, etc.

How it works: After an Inscribed is created (minted) from the smart contract, it can be assigned to a specific token on another smart contract. This can take place at the time of mint, or anytime afterwards.

Do I have to do anything if I sell my original Collectible? Not typically. Whenever the wrapped token changes owners, Scribe will receive a notification of that event, and Scribe will transfer the token to the new owner as a convenience. This costs gas, so it's not feasible to continue to transfer forever! Therefore, in the smart contract we have included the ability for both the new owner of the wrapped token, AND the owner of the Inscribed token to be able to transfer the token... but ONLY to the correct owner. This means if Scribe reaches a feasible limit for transferring the token, the new/old owner is free to send it to the wrapped token's owner just by paying the gas fee for the operation, or the new owner can come and grab it themselves 😄

Can I change which collectible is Inscribed? Yes, you can both clear the Inscribed token, and reassign it to another collectible you have.

Can I send the Inscribed to someone else? If the Inscribed token is already wrapping another collectible, it can only be sent to the owner of the Inscribed collectible.

Can I sell an Inscribed on OpenSea/Blue? If the Inscribed token isn't wrapping another token, it can be sold or transferred. Otherwise, the sale will fail.

What if I buy an awesome collectible from someone and it's been Inscribed? Lucky you! We will automatically send you the Inscribed token in most circumstances. It can be tough to contact the original owner of an NFT, so alternatively, you can feel free to TAKE it yourself just by paying the gas fee to do so. The smart contract will first verify you hold the wrapped token, and then happily give it to you.

What do the different frames mean? The different frames are so that the Inscribed token will not be confused with the collectible it is wrapping. There are some different images for frames of course, with varying levels of rarity.
